“One of the nice things about being a guitarist is the ease with which we can get the guitar out of its case – or off the wall! – and sit down and play a tune. Maybe it’s an old piece not played for years, or a new one being worked on, or something one has picked up while listening someone else’s recording, or possibly a theme from a film. At home or in a concert, one can choose to play pieces like this anytime, but they don’t necessarily fit into a recording unless they happen to be part of that recording’s general idea, part of the same mood. So a collection like this is very convenient, because as well as recognizing the most popular pieces, it is also an opportunity to include those which need a “home”; there are three here. I hope you like them all.”
